ROBERT J. BIRNBERG
Yoga has been an important part of Robert's life for over
twenty-five years. After practicing Yoga to heal a severe
back injury in 1979, Robert began studying with the best
teachers in America. Ten years later, he founded Community
Yoga and Wellness Center in Los Angeles, California.
In 1990 he was exposed to the teachings of the great South
Indian Yoga Master, T. Krishnamacharya, and his son and
student, T.K.V. Desikachar. Over the next several years,
Robert studied at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, (KYM)
an institution in South India regarded internationally for
Yoga Education and Therapy.
Following four years of intensive study in India and an
internship at the KYM, Robert became one a handful of students
certified by TKV Desikachar to train teachers. Robert teaches
private, therapeutic Yoga and trains teachers in the U.S.
and internationally. His teachings embrace the many aspects
of Yoga philosophy and practice, including postures, breath
work, meditation, chanting, and relationship and lifestyle
counseling.
Robert specializes in Yoga for addiction and compulsive disorders. He has taught at Promises Treatment Center in Malibu and has designed Yoga, Meditation and Spirituality programs for Clearview Treatment Centers in Southern, California, where he currently teaches and facilitates groups.
Robert has lectured at Harvard Medical school and is currently on the faculty of the Teacher Training Program at Providence Institute in Tucson Arizona, and the Yoga Therapist Program at Loyola Marymount University. He writes for various Yoga periodicals, and is currently working on a book, Yoga, Habit and Addiction, which will be published sometime in 2008.

Eleni discovered YOGA as a means for reducing stress in
1995 while practicing law in Sydney, Australia. Smitten,
Eleni completed the Sydney Yoga Center's teacher training
course. In 2000, she became disillusioned with the law and
quit the legal profession to teach Yoga full time. Over
the years, Eleni has seen Yoga evolve from a part time practice
to a full time career and lifelong passion.
In 2001, Eleni was introduced to the teachings of TKV Desikachar
by Michael de Manicor, a seniorstudent who became her first
serious teacher. Under his tutelage, Eleni offered group
classes and private instruction at Yoga Sanga in Sydney.
For several years she taught at St. John of God Hospital,
applying her knowledge and expertise to patients suffering
from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
In 2004 Eleni moved to Los Angeles, where she began intensive
study with Robert Birnberg, who became her husband. She
has completed a 200-hour teacher training course with Robert
and continues to study privately.
In addition, she completed an in-depth course of study at
the KYM in India, an institution regarded globally for Yoga
healing and education.
She currently specializes in Yoga for addiction and compulsive
disorders, teaching privately, and at Clearview Treatment
Centers, Venice, California.
Eleni augments her Yoga practice with studies in Ayurveda,
India's classical medical system. She is in her senior year
at Californian College of Ayurveda. Upon completion, she
will be awarded the title of Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist.
Eleni combines Yoga and Ayurveda to provide highly individualized
lifestyle and nutritional counseling. Her HEALTHY, TASTY,
